When it comes to Woolworths dog food I find it a bit hit or miss. In fact I’ve found their home brand Baxters to have one of the worst track records of any Australian dog food based on consumer feedback.
So what is a good dog food at Woolworths? Don’t worry, there are some better ones!
Below is a list of Woolworths dog food brands + reviews + ratings. If you’re new to Pet Food Reviews, you’ll find these reviews help you understand what’s in each dog food and whether they’re healthy for your dog!
Oh, and you may find some of these brands cheaper online at Pet Circle or , so check those out too. All reviews have a handy price compare.
Supercoat is great value for money, but understanding the ingredients can really help you boost your dog’s health. Find out more in the Supercoat dog food review!
If you’re looking for a decent dog food which is both easy to get hold of and affordable, then Applaws might tick your boxes.
It’s not the most premium dog food, but for the money I find it’s really decent.
You’ll find Applaws at Coles and …
Is My Dog good for your dog? As one of the cheapest Mars brands, it’s actually more coloured-cereals than anything meaty, even if it says “gourmet” on the bag. Read the My Dog review.

Ultimates Indulge dog food is a product of SAFCOL, so like a certain much talked about current affair it originated from a fish market (or did it?). You’ll find it on the shelves of …
It’s great to see brands like Animals Like Us on the supermarket shelves. They give a better and healthier alternative to others on the shelves. Many will see this brand as expensive, but a better way of looking at it is considering why those other brands are so cheap, and that’s mostly because they’re also not that healthy for your dog.

What are your thoughts on Woolworths dog foods?
I would really love your thoughts on Woolworths, especially with their dog and cat foods. Do you shop in store or online? How have you found them for price, reliability, and customer service?
Let me know in the comments, as it helps me, and it helps other Australian dog owners!
Alternative Retailers
The retailers I personally recommend based on my experience of reliability and price are Pet Circle (online retailer) and (online and store).

I expect there’ll be more changes to come with Woolworths pet foods given their takeover of PETstock, and the previous takeover of My Pet Warehouse by PETstock…
Hello! I love this website so much. I’ve come on here this morning as I’ve been hit with some marketing for Animals Like Us, a NZ dog food now being sold in Woolworths. Let us know if it’s any good! I haven’t been to a store to see the ingredients myself, but based on the price, I’m hoping it’s good! Thanks.
Also leaving a positive review for Applaws dog food. Our German Pointer has been on Applaws GF dry food for many years and we’re very happy with the value and quality. We also stock up when the food is on sale. Also feed our cat Applaws GF dry food.

We started using the Applaws dry food as the base food for our two Australian Cattle Dogs, one puppy and one older dog, around 4 years or so ago after seeing one of your reviews on facebook. It appealed to us primarily because you described it at the time as being a good mix of value and quality and not very far behind the more expensive grain free options. We have been very happy with the Applaws dry food and still use it for our one remaining cattle dog, plus we also use Applaws dry food options for our cat. We buy our Applaws food from Woolworths mainly for convenience, plus Woolworths put it on special every few weeks so we can stock up on it and save $4 to $5 per 2.7kg bag.
Hi what about 4 Leggs a Australian company my dogs seem to love it Thanks
Hi Shane, thanks for the prompt – I’ve now written a review of 4Legs.
As a side note I see 4Legs are “Australian owned and operated”, which is different from “Australian Made”.
Glad you like the food. I formulated the formulations but now retired. Kind regards regards Mark
There are 2 brands not on the list they are
1. Open Paddock
2. Petfood Australia (Only on Woolworths Marketplace)
Thanks Keri – I’ve added both to the list.

Hi Kristy, thanks for the feedback – appreciated!
Animals Like Us, like most NZ pet foods, is pretty good. It’s nice how they offer different mixes of kibble/dried raw to suit different budgets.
I’ll write a review soon – just written it on my notepad.
We buy Open Paddock kangaroo kibble and some of their treat range as well, would be interested to know your opinion! Thanks
Thank you for your reviews on Supermarket dog food. I use Applaws dry and canned food and I am very happy with the product.
