Cat foods really don’t get much better than this. In a world where most cat foods are nothing more than grain and waste products, Meow offers a wonderful diet of meat, fish, organs, tripe, and wonderful inclusions such as green lipped mussels.

Meow Cat Food Review

It doesn’t stop there either. You won’t find manuka honey in many pet foods, but you do in this food. Instead of cheap oils they use organic virgin coconut oil.

Not only does freeze-drying ensure nutrients remain much more intact that you find in a kibble, this product is also preserved naturally with rosemary.

Meow screams quality (or should I say purrrs quality?). It’s by far one of the best cat foods you can buy here in Australia. Even if affordability is an issue for you it’s still worth feeding this as part of a diet, even if it’s once every couple of days.

Absolutely fantastic.

  1. A small amount (2/3 pellets) of moistened lamb & king salmon mixed with some Applaws pouch fish is very popular with the fur person at my place. I can eke out 2 feeds from 1 Applaws pouch using this method & he benefits from the extra nourishment. It is a bit pricey but worth it imo. Recently, I shopped around online & bought a 280g packet for $29.26 at mypetwarehouse. A 280g packet of Meow lasts for ages using my method.

  2. I got this and Woof as well, I had to use the Meow first as it’s date is shorter. The difference is actually quiet a fair bit, the dog ones have added ingredients plus vitamins and minerals and the cat ones don’t.

The cat ones are softer than the dog ones as well. Both have coconut oil though so both work for me. But since I feed a lot of complete foods the cat one would be better in the long term.

As to how much the dogs like it, definitely they are not keen on the beef and hoki. They love this flavour from Absolute Holistic, but not the one from Meow. It gets eaten but it usually sits around for a week beforehand.

It’s mainly Basil who eats it and I’ve only seen Andzia eat maybe 5 pieces total in this whole time. So she really doesn’t seem to like it.

I decided against getting 2 other flavours due to the fat content and the fact I feed it dry. So the other one is beef, I’ve tried lamb before in K9 Natural. So it was high time to try beef.

I did also get lamb and salmon in K9, I’m not sure how that’ll go down. They loved the just lamb one though. Urban sent me some lamb and salmon air dried samples and they didn’t love them, so yeah that’s why I’m unsure how the freeze dried version will go down.

But these are all test foods, to see what they like and what they don’t. Expensive test foods, but you have to try them somehow.

  3. will this 62% fat content be a concern?
no other brand makes such fatty food.
